Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Kumar verified VSSP for losers only

Unapologetic defense of free 9 months pay is only for losers. What a crazy time at this once great company. Where is the outrage?

Again, why is this company PAYING so-called "Poor-Performers" to leave the company? Why haven't the managers and HR done the jobs they have been paid to do? You should not be "REWARDING" bad people to leave!
The fact that this company runs like this is a RED FLAG!

From what I recall ( and I am no longer at Ford, let go end of April this year as job was eliminated- except of course for for contract agency people calling me with a JD that sounds a lot like my old job even with the same team. Weird huh?) VSSP is a better deal than involuntary.

I say this because I believe in some case you can work basically part time hours with full time pay then still get your package (granted a lot had to do with your leadership). Plus VSSP used to be only max at 6 months, so it seems like they bumped it up to increase take rate. Maybe some of you will get lucky and they will bump up the package again like they did in 2018 in MS&S space. They offered VSSP to everyone, then bumped the package to 9 months, then finally to 18 months….that was the kicker that finally moved the needle.

Company had maybe a 50% shot to survive on their own in 5 plus years, so if you got more than 20 years in you should really think about taking VSSP if offered to you.

Is there anything we can do about this?

@upz - it would be nice if it really were about eliminating the those slow/poor performers that are slowing everyone else down, but if that were the case they would've been the ones to can throughout the year.

When people don't know how to do a right thing, they tend to do a lot of different things and hope something might stick.

Its just silencing. They don't want an outcry or a uprising hence eliminate all jobs.

What they will flush out are the good workers who don't want to work at a company that does stupid things like this.

Yes and we all know Kumar is a truth teller, not a spin doctor. LOL

Keep repeating the corporate spin like a good and loyal serf

So involuntary to many good folks who were let go in August vs voluntary to folks who are being termed low performers.. Think about that.

There needs to be a public outcry like the bonus this year.

Only one more example of a disgusting place to work. Leave now if you can, or prepare for the worst. Just wait until you see what's coming next. It's a pity the Freep is choosing to ignore this. Makes no sense that during the August involuntary cuts people asked their management to be included and received the severance package. Now, in this round, if you ask or have given any hint you may retire, you are automatically excluded from receiving severance. There needs to be a public outcry like the bonus this year.

The purpose of this VSSP is to flush out the losers. It's not to flush out the old people. The generous lump sum value is enough to flush the old people out. Whining about this isn't going to change things.

At least with the bonus debacle there was admission and a fix. Not this time.
