Cuts could easily be 20% in marketing, and I say that after 20+ years at the company and living through SET and ACT. I remember in 2016 when I came in one morning to find out that 3 of the 4 marketing people sitting in cubes around me were let go the previous evening and escorted out of the building by the men in black (private security, stupidly menacing and a real morale ki---r for those of us who were left). It was done so poorly that it really impacted people for years and I started a side business as a result as I realized I couldn't ever count on Intel.
VSP so voluntary so you had a choice in the matter. These may be ISPs as with that scale of job reduction it makes sense to use it to clean house and get rid of underperformers.
"some of Intel's divisions, including the sales and marketing group, could see cuts affecting about 20% of staff"
If they do lay off some people it won't be anywhere near 20%
Best thing that ever happened me in my career getting vsp from Intel. 6 figure redundancy. Change industries. Only realized how sh1t the salary is when you leave. I'm earning 30k more than when I worked there. Don't be afraid of change.
