Thread regarding IBM layoffs

RA versus PIP

Many senior people have been put on a pip in the past few weeks. This is a new way of IBM to get rid of you.
At the same time they told me to train a college grad they put me on pip. My question is why do they put a person who is not performing well to train a newly?

Yes, I am over 50!

Seems delusional to believe any of this is "new"

My question is why do they put a person who is not performing well to train a newly?

In the hopes that the replacement person will do it better, more efficiently, or more cheaply. Lots of people cruise through the tail end of their career doing a fraction of a full job and gatekeeping to preserve it.

Delete all your data, work assets, everything. Leave those scumbags nothing. Make it hurt.

I’m so sorry! Like you guessed, you are training your replacement. It likely has NOTHING to do with your performance. Spend as little time working as possible and look for a lifeboat.

If you feel you are being discriminated against, study the recent “Dino-babies” debacle and reach out to the law firm handling this lawsuit.

Best of luck to you!

To burn up some of your time and make achieving your PIP targets even more impossible. You have been put on PIP to get rid of you because your salary is too high, not because of poor performance.
