Should I quit? I feel like a sitting duck waiting for my round of lay-ffs. I work in D1D. Also management has never addressed layoffs. The promotion freeze is ki----g me. I was planning on negotiating bc I am being paid significantly less for my experience. I’m a HW Engineer working in IFS. I have less than 1 year of experience working at Intel. I have a master’s degree and 3 years of industrial experience.
My work load is also high bc a senior engineer in my group quit. So I’m filling a huge gap w/ limited compensation.
The resignation of Randhir Thakur (IFS VP) is making me anxious. I recently got an offer from an Intel vendor. The base pay is ~35K more that what I’m receiving (a two grade promotion) & a 10K sign on bonus. I had 2 years of industrial experience yet Intel low-balled me on my salary. During these hard times at Intel justifying a promotion seems challenging. I feel like Intel values values terminal degrees more than relevant work experience. (This is why a whole bunch of PhDs are pushing shopping carts.)
Should I stay when the future of Intel is very uncertain. I desire a higher salary to pay off my large student loans and be able to afford a home. Also the cost of living in Oregon is high and Portland is like Gotham.
