Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

They don't even bother looking for ways to boost morale

At the company where I worked previously, morale was also very low, but unlike here, the management tried in every way to boost people's morale. Do they not notice that morale is terribly low here or do they not care about it at all? When they finally start to care, I'm afraid it will be too late.

They should try Hawaiian shirt fridays. That's always good for a boost.

What could be done to boost morale? It's a very simple thing-fu----g pay us. Inflation is up and they keep finding creative ways to take money out of our pocket like ki----g our stock and pushing back cost of living adjustments

You have to understand: Riverbed has deeply incompetent management. This is the JV C Suite here. They want to improve morale, just like they want to sell good products, but they do not know how. So they just try out random stuff and try to look confident. But they don’t even have the skills to know what the problem is. Heck, if the company weren’t losing money by the fistful they wouldn’t even suspect there is a problem. Smoot’s out there doing CEO things! We’ve got swag and ads and videos! Torek’s saying technical stuff like a real engineer! We have SAAS now!

But none of them have any idea what they’re doing or even have the base-level expertise to understand their doing it wrong, let alone how to fix it.

So it’s going to keep on that way as customers stop renewing and the bank account empties out and good people quit. They’ll keep smiling as the ship sinks because they genuinely do not understand why its happening or that their doing anything wrong. And then when Riverbed is a crumpled wreck on the bottom of the sea they’ll shrug and say we did our best, it was all just bad luck.

And the sad awful thing is, they really are doing their best.

Gotcha! That really wasn’t a gift card from HR to employees for the holidays but a phishing test from the IT department. Just ignore that we made it look as real as possible to get your hopes up. Merry Christmas!

What could realistically be done to boost morale outside of improving revenue and relevancy in the market?
