Informed on 2/17 I was identified as surplus & off payroll 3/3. After 39 yrs of devoted dedication & of taking on projects of those kicked out over the years, working long hours to keep work going, I get thrown out like trash. Boss was the most cold hearted, self absorbed, emotionless person I have ever seen. Some of my projects were being transitioned to a higher management level. Then other projects going to 2 other mgrs my level. However, told I was fired, due to lack of work. Just remember bigger & better things are waiting for all outside of this mismanaged Company. Good luck to all!

There should still be some kind of mention on the business news stations indicating that AT&T is laying off employees just like big tech. I watch financial news every day and hear of layoffs all the time with other companies, but never with AT&T! I wonder how they manage to keep it so secretive!

“How come there is NO news media release about the massive layoffs at AT&T that happened on 3/3/23?”

What’s the big deal about 3/3? There have been layoffs every month since the beginning of the year and there will continue to be layoffs for the foreseeable future. They can’t layoff everyone in multiple orgs at one time it has to be done in phases.

AT&T lump sum is ties to the IRS segment rates in November. I left when it was .53. For every point the rate goes up the lump sum rate decreases by 10%. The rate in November 2022 was over 5%. That means AT&T would save nearly 50% of the lump sum if they could keep employees until 2023. They scheduled layoffs in 2023 instead of october 2022 to decrease the lump sum payout by nearly 50%. So those who stayed that have a pension lost about half of their lump sum payout. A pretty shady practice by AT&T leadership.

Best of luck to all affected by the disastrous AT&T management mistakes of buying high and selling low and putting this once iconic company $Billions in debt! I'm still waiting for my time to receive a notice of layoff and then finally put this all behind me.

15 yrs of service 2 years from retirement and it's a wrap. AT&T can kiss my A$$. The first thing I'm doing is canceling all ATT services, TMOB or Verizon can have it. Besides me a lot of disabled vets are getting laid off because d-mb A$$ buy cr-p that They shouldn't but when you make millions a year who cares except people being let go. Stay strong Brothers and sisters this too will pass🫡

Lost my job yesterday. 22 years f service. 19 months from 100% retirement. I get it business is down but how nice would it be to have billions in the kitty from the farm led purchases/ mergers. I work with upper management and they have their head in the sand trying to please the boss above them. Was a great and u enjoyed it. Ended sooner than it should have but I’ll take their 6 month severance and find something better without always worrying when next cut is coming. Peace out.

That rumor is false. If you are in AWG it doesn’t matter if you opted for ILL or not. If you didn’t make a selection, the default answer will be “no, I am not interested in leaving”. Even if you said no, you may still be laid off. That survey was just looking to see if there are any volunteers. If you get laid off you will receive the severance (assuming you sign the severance agreement once terminated).

If you are also retirement eligible, you are entitled to that pension as well if you are 100% vested. Pension eligibility is independent of surplus status/departure. When you leave the company you are free to start your pension (or cash out) immediately, or wait until you are ready to start it.

Is there any truth to the rumor that those in the AWG that did not sign the 1/31/23 letter that you will leave the company will get severance OR pension but not both if laid off in the next couple weeks?

in the SE power work done by 4-wall central office technicians will be taken over by dedicated power techs to conform with what is done in other regions. It is being done as a transfer under article 12.04 and those who are to be transferred aren't going to be backfilled. So already short handed and now even more sort handed, while stankey and his friends and relatives jobs are safe. And the conflict of interest (violation of the code of conduct) of the latest collaboration with blackrock continues.

There were 2 phone calls for ACE, each group was informed during the call whether or not they were an "AWG" also known as an affected work group. The number given was approximately 11% across the organization, everyone in an AWG was sent an IIL survey within the first day or two. The letters will be sent and received the 3rd week of February, any displaced workers will be off of payroll before 3/1/23.

That's the scoop.

This company is a joke and has been for the past 20-25 years. Corporate greed has taken over and they could care less about customers or employees. All these irresponsible purchases and mergers have cost them billions of dollars. Leadership should've been overthrown after losing over $4billion on the botched T-Mobile deal. Not even gonna go into detail about the Time Warner and DTV purchases. All disasters!! They keep thinking that as long as they can keep the shareholders happy, F everyone else. So many left at the end of 2022 (including me) that those left are struggling to keep up with their workload. They won't hire call center workers in America and almost every dept has contractors and vendors that don't know what the heck they're doing. Glad to be gone! This is no longer one of the country's best employers or responsible corporate citizens. Maybe it should put itself up for sell now?

Hey AT&T,
Google CEO Sundar Pichai says he will take less pay this year as he joins JP Morgan’s Jamie Dimon and Apple’s Tim Cook in taking a compensation hit.

There were two calls. First call was fast and.
Cut throat. 8% work for for reduction in the ace East and west. Effective immediately they will be asking for volunteers in management first to go with a severance package. They said they expect everyone to continue daily work as usual even if I’m effected group. They will be an flexible as they can in the “interest in leaving” but doesn’t mean they will be selected as they need to maintain integrity of positions. Then I’m Feb if those spots are not filled they will select those who at surplus. Heart goes out to all those effected by these cuts or that will be. The second call was to let them know they were not in the affected group. Those in the affected group should be receiving the “interest in leaving” email today.

How does your spouse know it’s a “non-impacted” call? The emails received from everyone I talked to had no mention of impact verse non-impacted. A couple did receive an early AM invite while the rest of us in the group received an 11am invite.

Does anybody have any insight on each of those calls?. There’s a call for impacted first. And not impacted right after. does anyone know what the dooms day call Is? Is impacted or non impacted the one? My spouse got email for the non impacted which I feel would be they best case , right? But I guess we won’t know. This totally sucks. Sending lots of positive vibes to all impacted (no punt intended) by this call.

Anyone with any sort of insight able to explain whic call is which?

AT&T cut employees December 1,2022. Now January 17, 2023 they cut again. They are doing a reorganization in February. Then they will be cutting again in March. This company has the nerve to hold the Severance pay for 45 days. AT&T also has jobs on the website for the same ones they cut. They gave people 2 weeks to find something in the company but that is a joke. They sent an email saying how the company made Billions the first 2 quarters of the year. This is just greed.

We’re told that some were Surplus on 1/17/2023. Last day is 1/31/2023. Amazing how this Company works where if your Service makes Highest Revenue in the Organization, you still get Cut!!! Other organizations Revenue is lot less, and they are keep those folks. These Executives at AT&T don’t know Cr-p. All these Directors, AVP’s, SVP’s are out of touch of what the Working level People do. All Data provided to Senior leaders are Not true & all this data is totally Fudged.

AT&T also does not care for their employees and that is the bottom line.

I will move forward & Think positive and start a

Surplus surprise. 10 to 20 year employees surprised with a 30 day notice. Making positions to transfer and hire in only to be surplussed not even a year later. Outsourced many jobs to overseas. Union has been a joke! You will not get the american dream in corporate jobs. What a cut throat company. They don’t care about their employees and never will.

Employees may cost more every year but so does everything else including our rates. Thinly things getting lower are raises and the hideous “insurance” we have. Other providers are beating T to Greenfields and getting exclusives and continuing, even enhancing their fiber build. Leadership needs to understand fiber in the ground is the future. Cutting that is exactly what our competitors want. So let’s cut jobs and send outsource practically everything to suns who have absolutely NO vested interest in our company, cut core employees, and cut the build to make our earnings look good in the short term. Way to go leaders! You can be assured they would not use their personal assets in this manner.

Left company in October after 33 1/2 years. Office of 103 now down to 34. The portfolio I handled moved to a country close to Russia. Seriously people they do not care about you. It's all about money. They will pull the rug out from under so many hardworking and loyal employees!

The planet Earth shall cease to rotate, everyone will perish and all your wishful thoughts, hard earned money, polished cars, fantasies and dreams will be erased from existence ultimately proving the fact that nothing really matters, not even your life, so whether or not you go to work, retire or go fishing will have zero consequences or be known in history. Not even your god or the company can save you.

My plan is to use the $5k per year of service enhancement to pay off the mortgage and then take the pension option. That will leave me in ship shape to sail off into my golden years and open up a slot for some young buck. Thanks AT&T!😁
