There is a new round of layoffs happening now. Two employees(Oracle US) who worked more than 10-15 years are laid off recently.

There was another round of layoffs in Nov. Nothing to do with over-hiring. There is almost permanent hiring freeze last two years. People across the globe were made redundant, those who worked for several years.

The ones who made the poor decision of over hiring to begin with are the ones that never get touched.

I believe over-hiring is done intentionally, to make sure they have some spares they can get rid of when the layoffs come around to them again. In that case, over-hiring is not considered a "poor decision", it's intentional.

The only lay off the more recent hires that have been there less than a few years. The ones who made the poor decision of over hiring to begin with are the ones that never get touched.

Makes sense to me!!

Hard working underpaid ICs are always targeted for rifs. Non performing Management and their kid/spouse/relatives at IC level are never touched. Pathetic.

No chatter on 2023 until we get thru 2022... the chatter is what will 12/1 and 12/16 bring...

Haven't been on this site for a few months, but here I see someone commanding another to "just shut up", and he even calls the other guy a "boomer" as an additional insult. What is this, junior high school? Or maybe this guy thinks he's posting on Fox News along with the juveniles there.

Everyone has a right to offer their opinions, so for those of you who cannot handle that, then it might be best to just not come on to these boards. Why upset yourself?

But... I fully agree that it's riciculous to be inquiring about 2023 RIFs with what's been happening at Oracle this year. Even a new employee can do a google search to read about the August RIFs. Come on, give us all a break!

I think the person was just asking for information - which is human nature. I doubt s/he lacks an understanding about the nature of the Oracle Beast. One learns the dangers involved being an employee. The 'O' does not try to hide what it is so no one should be upset when they get bit. Maximize what you can get while you're there and know you need a plan B/C/D.... when the Reaper comes for you. It's not really complicated if you pay attention.

What does this clown think will be going on in 2023? Does he think Oracle is going on a mass hiring spree? Or that perhaps no RIFs actually happened in 2022? Maybe he thinks that Oracle will become the undisputed #1 in Cloud by the end of 2023?

I guess ignorance is bliss for some.
