Intel will likely need to sell their fabs split the company to have any measurable chance of existing another decade.

It really is a dilemma -- a choice between equally bad alternatives. Intel cannot afford to gamble with IDM 2.0... on the other hand, Intel cannot afford the cost of vertical integration any longer because cost of new nodes exceeds margin dollars generated.

What a ya gonna do.

FUBAR, How can Intel justify the RD and CAPEX with plummeting x86 volumes and revenue?

TSMC has guaranteed volume from Apple, AMD, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Mediatek. Dang by 1nm TSMC will also have Intel as well.

Game over for Pat and Intel. Pat will be turning the lights out in Intel fabs.

Warren Buffett made the right bet.
Intel has zero chance of “unquestioned leadership”.

Intel is stuck. The business is under so much pressure now, Intel cannot afford to keep up on new process manufacturing nodes. To help pay for it, try the IDM 2.0 hail mary strategy. Odds of success < 2%. It's hard to watch this thing unravel so fast.
