Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

will there be a mass employee exodus now its clear pay rises won't happen?

wonder what will happen now that pay rises are not going to happen? Will many employees leave?

DXC are assuming that this will not be the case and works will just get on with things unhappy but not so disappointed they walk.

That’s great, 9/10 times I’m hiring someone from meta fake book google twatter over someone from DXC.

There won’t be as we have put up with this sh-t for years. We like only working maybe 10 hours a week from home and having almost unlimited vacation. We like not caring if the company makes money or nit as our excutives steal everything they can get their hands on.

Tech is everywhere. I left EXC in the last 90 days because of pay and continued to reassignments. There are plenty of opportunities if you're hungry and willing to look for them regardless of the economy.

The time to leave has come and gone. The great resignation is now turning into the Great Depression, economies are screwed and you’ll have nowhere to go especially if you have been at DXC for a long time. Why would anyone want to hire someone from DXC when there’s a bunch of people who worked at real
Companies with real skills looking for work now that they’ve been laid off too? No, people will stay because they have no choice and will bi--h and complain but nothing will change. So keep taking that ever shrinking paycheck and bend over and grab your ankles and wait because that’s what DXC is going to give you. Enjoy.

I have skills - I'm not allowed to show them, thwarted by lack of access, lack of effective kit, and you can't just work on something without a project manager asking you every day what percentage complete is it. The PM leaves - they halt the project!!! Nothing gets done because everyone spends all day escalating things rather than adding value.

I agree to an extent BUT bullsh-ter Halbard alluded to a hiring freeze. He tried very hard to convince managers there wasn’t a freeze. I was also on a L2 apps call and our US leader tried just as hard to convince people there was no freeze. Which means getting new staff is very hard.

There must be a perception out there than vacancies are not being approved, which means anyone leaving from a skeleton team is not being backfilled which is hurting service.

The other factors to consider, there is no jobs shortage globally In developed countries. DXC will have to pay top end to attract talent. They can’t recruit the best of the best because they create a huge disparity in salaries between old and new staff, and they know this. Also new breed techies don’t understand legacy IT outsourcing as much. Someone from Twitter can’t function to their strengths in DXC simply because regardless of it being IT, they are two very different jobs. The IBM’s, Aria’s of this world are not cutting heads.

Sadly have to agree with previous post, DXC skills are so legacy and the reputation so poor that very few still here will be able to walk in to other jobs, even more so given the increased competition with the layoffs announced in more "fashionable" tech companies in recent weeks, and also with the high probability most markets are heading into recession or are already in a recession (ie UK)
Mr Shouty well aware of this, and knows he has ridden the worst of the storm already over no pay rises despite 10%+ inflation, so nothing will change now

Well, there is tech layoff Tsunami happening in the sector with all big name companies shedding people. They are all extremely qualified tech savvy people who will flood the market. Honestly, does any dxc guy will be able to compete in this market situation. Most dxc'ers are far away in technology and rarely have niche tech skills - so let's not overestimate ourselves. The executive management is pretty aware of the scenario.

Already happening. I'm in an area with niche skills and the team is now so depleted that delivery is getting impacted. Can't recruit either, no one of any value applies.
