The moment I realized that I would not be able to upgrade my skills here, I decided to leave. There are many who have delayed leaving and put themselves in a situation where they are stuck in a company that does not compensate enough for their efforts, while at the same time they are no longer marketable and cannot find anything better. Why do people put themselves in that situation? The most important thing is to know when to quit.

The company doesn't really want any staff. The more that leave the better. They show that loud and clear with no pay rise, no useful training and out of date equipment. Very telling that nobody chooses to stay much beyond 2 years, everyone else has been here forever and openly admitting to doing as little as possible pending retirement.
Some of us have bills to pay. Including mortgage.
