Some time ago I turned down a very good offer because I could not imagine that suddenly, after a long time, I would be working for a direct competitor. Of course I wouldn't do that now. Moreover, I think I would enjoy working for a competitor because I started to despise this company and everything that's happening here.

You are SO right. Not having to deal with ECs is so wonderful. The only one who I need authority from is my own boss!
It’s like being in an abusive relationship. You don’t truly know how bad it was until you are out and living in a normal situation.
The biggest thing for me was being treated nicely and being appreciated which never happened at Allstate in claims. Also, the meetings at my new carrier aren’t venting about all of the stupid processes/broken technology that still hasn’t been fixed. We actually have constructive meetings where we can focus on improving business results, as the tech/processes all work fine. It’s also amazing not using dated Colossus and not having to deal with uneducated ECs.
@4hvh+1jR6y4aO Gainshare bonus so I guess you are at Progressive as well? I hope you have a better manager luck than I have had, had 2 so far and both were bad. The one if you asked a question would start turning red and raise his voice, the other had issues of another sort. There were several of us from Allstate I know of personally and most have left.
I am leaving soon, I received an offer on Monday and doing background for new company now, getting out of insurance and when all calculated I am getting a 31% increase in pay. I will be taking a vacation over New Years with my first day back on Jan 4th and will let Mr Angry know the 6th is my last day as I start the new job on the 9th.
Yes insurance is insurance but all companies are not the same. It’s November and I now await my yearly Gainshare bonus. It’s not as high as past years but it’s been tough this year for all insurers.
I’m forever glad I left Allstate. I’m treated with dignity. Constantly told they are glad I came over. I lost some PTO but since I worked on all my days off at Allstate I hardly notice. I got off the day after Thanksgiving. I chose my hours and end my day at 4pm. The list goes on.
Allstate sucked and in retrospect feels like I was trapped in a cult!
Insurance is still insurance, it is all the same just different name, if you want a real change get out of insurance and leave the insurance work to those overseas contractors.
When I left and saw what a normal company looks like I think back about why I wasted so much time working for an incompetent manager and office. You really do understand how much dysfunction there is there once you experience a normal company.
Regrets? I've had a few.
But then again, too few to mention.
Because through it all, I did it...
MYYYY WAAAAY!
