Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Is anyone actually complying with RTO?

My building in Minneapolis is a ghost town…some people that used to come in haven’t returned. Others are coming in maybe once or twice a week and not for a whole day. On my team it’s not tracked but I still come in once or twice weekly and feel like a sheep every time I walk in and it’s just me and like two other people sitting on an empty floor.

Pre-covid they had built a second parking ramp because the main one was always full. Now the main one is maybe 15-20% full on a good day.

They keep selling that three days in office a week is mandated and everyone is back but sure doesn’t seem that way from what I’ve seen. Anyone seen the same thing in their city?

If I had to guess based on what I've seen personally, about 1% of the company is pro-RTO. The rest are doing everything they can to minimize the damage and/or looking for the exits, which is, of course, the objective of the policy.

I'm in Tech. Over here they're not saying a peep about RTO anymore. They do talk about Co-Location Strategy. But their definition of Co-Location is "Same Time Zone".

I think it varies by manager. Ours told us PTO counts as days in the office but holidays don’t. WTF? Anyway they will use it to give bonus eligible people less of a bonus. Since I am a bonus wh--e I will be in the office three days a week.

Downtown Des Moines Founders, Tower, Skyview, North Star all essentially empty. There is a small number of entry level folks who have to come in but that's it.

Nothing in writing or recorded. My area has said PTO days count as days in office, individuals are not being tracked and I think they are not tracking how long you are in the office. Since they don’t put this in writing or record this info, it is difficult to confirm. They just make quick statements in meetings. No word on any upcoming changes.

Does anyone who has seen the reporting know how it’s being calculated? All sorts of rumors but our management never told us. Questions remain on badge swipe vs network login, how PTO/holidays count, working from a different office count or do you have badge in to your workday location, do you have to be on network a certain amount of time, also heard rumors it will pick up last location you logged in that day.

Trying to comply but all these things could throw off the count! Anyone know?

It costs more money to drive in (thanks $5/gallon gas!) than I'd lose in any potential "you got all your work done and it's great, but you didn't come into the office enough" pay increase reduction so that stick won't hunt. RTO has already failed, the NYC gang is just to inept to realize it.

I'm PRAYING that 2022 performance ratings are impacted by RTO compliance. Praying really, really hard. And I'm an athiest.

In Charlotte we are now seeing reports for those not complying and are being asked to address it. Current focus on those not coming in at all. Have been advised that this will be a performance objective for 2023 and will begin addressing those who are not in the office the required 3 times/week soon.
I go in…sit on an empty floor. There’s no one there. I need my job so not willing to risk my pay and bonus over sitting alone in an office.
It truly sucks and I see no reason for people to have to be in office, especially if you have global teams. It’s ridiculous.

I’m in technology and we are only supposed to go in when invited to an Agile ceremony. Our Scrum Master sees no reason to call us in for meetings as no one is in same location as anyone else. So everyone would have to drive in and sit alone on the phone. No one wants to do that, so we remain remote. Even our managers are remote, as they are not co-located with anyone either. Even if we had to go in, half the team is in EGS, and you know they will never join us in person. They will forever be voices on the phone. No one has said a word about RTO on our team.

Are you in WFC? It's always empty and yep, not full days anymore. Everyone is coming in and leaving by lunch. If they don't get in trouble, why should I?

They haven't returned because they were smart and found jobs elsewhere.

My understanding is that monitoring will ramp up in 2023. Looking both at badge access and login location. What they do with that, who knows. I am in corp risk.

I comply but I spread out my PTO so that it reduces the number of days I am in the office in a given week. There's no one here, 10 people on a good day on a floor that seats 300 or so.

I waste all my PTO to minimize the number of days I have to go in because it's a stupid waste of time. FRTO.

If your job can be done remotely, WF will figure out how to off shore it, even if it means terrible quality work or audit issues.

Everyone should just rebel at the same time. Just don’t go in. Additionally, slam WF in social media and other career related sites by discouraging people from applying for positions. Hence, no job applicants = less likely to fire those who are non-compliant.

Yep. It's ridiculous. God bless the noncompliant. Not all heros wear capes. Hardly anyone wants to be in-office, and the execs grand plan is to leverage fear to try to beat their employees into submission and force them to.

Like many I'm supposed to be in 3 days a week. I haven't gone in once. I'm prepared for the consequences. Fire me, lay me off I don't really care.

RTO is terrible. I wonder how many new harassment complaints and sick days will increase now that we’re all back together. It’s funny how we’re supposed to learn from experience except when the experience is that we can work from home effectively.
