Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

More RIFs are coming in 2023. Are you ready to leave?

In case you were wondering, more RIFs are coming. I know because I am on the planning team. I keep asking that we could offer an official volunteer separation option but my peers are not in agreement yet. So, let me share a secret alternative.

The sizes of the new actions are still under review. If you want to secure your package, remind your leadership team including your VP, SVP, and HRBP every chance you get. You need to account for time needed for HR, Finance, and Legal to generate your check, I mean paperwork. Make it easy for them to justify by stop working so hard. No need for you to be a jerk either.

Start looking forward to life after Seagate. May the odds be ever in your favor.

They don't pay us enough money so that we can be in a position to save money

Can’t stress enough the importance of an emergency savings account stocked with a year of net take home pay. Don’t rely on severance that is not a guarantee anyway if they company goes bust. If you don’t have the emergency account on an engineer salary you have been totally irresponsible folks to you and your family.

Just waiting for the next round. Finding those of us left are working more. The strategy of throwing all available bodies at a problem (in my opinion) is messy and does not get to a solution faster. Knowledge was walked out the door and in many cases those kept have been clueless on how to deliver in the same manner as their predecessors.

Maybe OP is waiting to get a nice severance. I would stay if I could milk 20 years worth of dough.

I left Seagate in the spring time for my reasons. I had asked to be put on the list. Nothing happens. Keep in mind, if you are a good worker below a Director, good chance, won't let you go. Just pile on more work on you, your so valuable.
We need to get rid of Mosley and as a stockholder, that is what I would recommend. We need a cleanup CEO to come in and do a major flush. Time to get rid of Directors and above. Ask them to justify their jobs.
