A premonition of becoming a target

I know several people who were cut here and who told me that they had no idea at all that they would be on the cut list, that is, they thought they were safe since they were good performers. It was always hard for me to believe that there were no red flags that would suggest that they could be a target. Do you have a feeling that you will be cut?

You are a target. You work there. Free yourself and get out.

I was part of the last layoff. I have a 5 on my previous review and nothing but wonderful things associated with me and others impacted. Sometimes they do completely blindside you. No red flags.

I had worked there for > 15 years. Received rave reviews, exceeded expectations in all categories on annual reviews, mentored new nurses, and completed all assignments. Micromanagement became extreme, atmosphere became toxic, and revolving door of resignations spun faster. Age discrimination was very apparent. Even when I thought that things couldn't get worse, they did. I quit and it was one of the best decisions of my life.

I was there a long time. In 2019 they told us we were in danger of being laid off and then somehow we were saved. But in December 2019 Leadership was laid off and care advocates that were there under two years. Since they didn’t have to pay them severance. Now with the reorganization I don’t know who is safe and who I isn’t. I saw it coming and got out of there. Like the other poster it’s hard to know so keep your eyes opened for other opportunities.

If your worried, control what you can. Get your resume tuned up, get your LinkedIn up to date, get some references from coworkers, look at open positions that match your skills. Maybe even stretch your imagination to a better position. No job is guaranteed so you should always have a plan B.
