Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

To those still there, only one way to enact change

Leave! That’s the key here. Just get up and leave. They aren’t backfilling jobs and if enough people do leave everything will (finally) break down once and for all.

At this point let it all fall down and see if Accenture can fully run the company - will be a very interesting experiment.

Here's the thing, been here a long time. Never seen it this bad at the field level. The greed at the top that resulted in previous layoffs and outsourcing has created a talent vacuum at many levels, primarily filed staff and low level managers. So many people have left and continue to leave that multiple divisions of the company barely have the capacity to do their day to day work. Accenture cannot run the entire company, but if PZ decides to outsource your department you have zero control over that decision. Whether you work extremely hard or just coast it isn't going to change one thing.

You are most likely not going to get layed off. There just isn't much fat left on the bone so stop worrying about layoffs. Second, you are not going to get rewarded for hard work. It isn't going to happen as long as execs want to keep their lofty bonuses and continue billion dollar stock buy backs every quarter. They have chosen to sacrifice employees for the "stakeholders".

So that leaves you with a decision. Do I work hard hoping one day I will get a reward or do I coast? In my opinion, for those that have been here a long time and have put in the sweat and tears, now is the time where you can reward yourself. You can now be bold and say no, I'm not going to work early or late, I may even takes some half days. Maybe those emails can wait a day or two for a reply. I'm using all of my pto and not feeling guilty that there is no back up. In other words, the correct answer is I choose to coast.

It won't last forever. I will find a better company eventually, but for now I simply coast with no work stress, no drama, no cares about whether we write that account or not. My work nirvana will end eventually, but for now I'm giving myself a reward for the years of hard work. Be thoughtful before you leave. Do it on your terms and if you can get paid a full time salary and benefits to do a part time job for a while then why not? You aren't going to hurt PZ by resigning so don't try to be a martyr. Play the game.

Keep your eyes open for other opportunities and when you find one that fits jump on it. Until then I'm coastin, easy going like the tide. Happy holidays.

Man it's not like I'm no trying, but there are lot of worst employers out there than AIG, I'm taking my time. And honestly, at least in my case, even if the Company has as a whole has a toxic environment and don't care about his employees, the people with whom I work with are wonderful , I like my boss, I have a huge freedom...
