Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Mid-Markets

Has anyone heard if there will be more layoffs in the mid-market segments? This year or Q1? So far it sounds like a bunch of changes within the roles.

Outsourcing sales is precisely what the company has been planning and implementing for many months. Self reported sales numbers by direct resources fail to deliver revenue, everyone there knows why. Mid is the huge business revenue segment, so SP channel management cuts cost by 40% vs direct. This model will look very much like the Cisco , Avaya etc. sales and marketing model...it's simple economics 101. If you're in the SP management business unit, you'll be around to turn the lights off, otherwise...update your resume.

Interesting that the company would surplus mid-market sales folks since this is the area the company wants to focus on. Leadership has repeatedly stated this on many town halls over the last year.
Ultimately, it's about cost savings. Bring in outside resources (contractors) and new employees to do the work to save that $$$.

Are you kidding? This week has been a bloodbath with them cutting every direct sales team located out of region. Managers and team first, overlays and tech team next.
Plus they’re Piping everyone they can.
So many good people that have always produced ,year over year, we’re just classlessly cut yesterday.
All they care about is the dividend and they are getting out of all other businesses outside of phones and network.
They now want SPs to handle all OOR business and most in region.
This comes 24 months after changing rules and instructing sales to NOT use SPs.
Disgusting

Crazy talk would be suggesting that T will look the same. Layoffs will be massive.

T is going nowhere and will not be broken up. Stop the crazy talk.

Layoffs will be consistent and ongoing, which should be no surprise to anyone. Sadly, T hasn't figured out how to correct the revenue erosion and lack of overall growth. Each cycle of layoffs gives the C suite a 6 month reprieve until they need to announce another surplus. This will never end. The likely outcome in the months to come will be a break up of the company which will result in far worse results to employees than simple layoffs. It will happen, the variable is when ?
