HOW the layoffs happened is the root of anger for many. After Allsnake encouraged employees to “seek help from a neighbor or your local church” with child care to keep working without disruption at the beginning of COVID-19 only to be met with lies and a BS game of Tetris was ballsy on their part. Now anyone who witnessed that, is being pushed out, new employees with no knowledge of their abuse think they found a great employer.
There’s no way with the way things are imploding we won’t merge or be acquired.
That was an absolute crock of you know what. How about this? I went to another carrier in 2020 and was appalled when I saw their salary structure, bonus plan, and annual raises. I always thought that “the grass couldn’t be greener on the other side,” as I had always been told. Other carriers pay bonuses and reward performance and loyalty. Allstate will swear that a 5% raise is enormous when many carriers are far exceeding that if you’re performing at a very high level.
Allstate claims had zero HR presence in their field offices. That lead to gross injustices occurring in field offices without anyone being the wiser. These offices were run like mafia clubs. If you knew someone you were protected. If you didn’t? Oh well! Nepotism occurs in all companies but the levels this company allowed it to occur is alarming and shameful.
When I’ve asked around about the survivor style layoff the company utilized in 2020, I am met with completely blank stares and amazement. To pit employees against one another in a video game challenge sounds like something from a movie. Please remember that if you stay with a company like this, you are open to whatever crazy new program or philosophy they’ll come out with next.
There are still very good opportunities in the market so now is the time to look around and take interviews. Don’t be bullied and don’t allow yourself to believe that you don’t have relevant skills!
