If you're bad at what you do, no more free ride, no matter who you're friends with. If you're mediocre at your job, you should also start worrying. If you're good, I don't think you should have any issues finding new employment, even with all the layoffs going around.

I'm great at my job. I don't expect to get let go but I'd still be worried if I was because I'm on the older side.
Good or better or best doesn't matter..for survivability and employability connections are must...
