Employees' fear of layoffs is being exploited. Some managers try to make us believe in subtle ways that it is possible to make the job safer if the person works double workloads and a lot of unpaid overtime.
It's sad that some people really believe that. I don't believe that a totally drained employee will survive layoffs. Perhaps if they were a part of the clique, but then they don't need to be working hard in the first place.
