Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

Reduced severance package for next layoff

With the extreme cash crunch, that stx is currently facing .. one of the things that is being discussed at the upper echelons is .. reducing the severance package for the next layoff (if the next quarter numbers are not good)
Seagate typically gave a severance package of 2 weeks pay, per year of working in the company - capped to a max of 52 weeks
Proposal # 1 -- make a flat 6 week pay for every one
Proposal #2 -- 1 week pay for every year of working in the company -- capped to 25 weeks

How do I know this ? Bcuz I am part of these discussions and have had to layoff too many really good people this time ! (And I am not happy)

I would suggest a flat 12 week pay and benefits for everyone.

Click bait. Not happening until bankruptcy and a Receiver will make the determination.

In the US, Seagate removed the severance policy from the HR Central website years ago.

2 weeks per year and a cap of 52 weeks is unheard of now. A fixed three months cap is now the norm.

OP is located in US. For APAC, used to be One month salary for number of service year. The current RIF reduced to capped at 18 months only.

Next year 2023 RIF package will be further reduce from 18x months to only 12x months.
