Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

By the time we have layoffs, all the jobs will be gone

Think about it. There are currently tens of thousands of seasoned engineers looking for new positions due to major layoffs happening in a huge number of tech companies. Anything good will be easily filled, and the companies that are still looking for employees will probably get excellent workers for half a price (not literally, but you know what I mean). By the time it's our turn, there'll be nothing good left.

Yes, being laid off in a recession (which is just beginning) isn’t the same as being laid off in 2016. Most of the big names in tech are slowing down hiring to a trickle, freezing hiring entirely, or laying people off.

This shouldn’t be news to anyone. It’s the scenario that has been talked about on this site all year.

@csi Yeah but leaving 47 weeks of pay on the table makes you think twice does it not?

I've been looking for work for several months now, it's very competitive out there.

Don't wait.

I am seriously considering leaving the tech industry.

Stop worrying and take action!
Always remember that your job is at will! you like what you have you stay, you don’t then look elsewhere… it’s simple! This is business… you should own your career, not leaving it up to companies’ destiny!

You do realize you are allowed to interview and leave at any time don't you ? Intel doesn't need to release you with a layoff first.
