Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Rating system is terrible

There has to be some type of system for recognizing exceptional performance and also not recognizing weak performance. The problem is this becomes a beauty contest rather than a recognition system. Then throw in biased favoritism resulting from the Hi-Pot system, management incompetence (recognizing and promoting brown nosers rather than those speaking truth) and a lack of a post-audit feedback system (leadership 101 searches to repeat excellence and not repeat poor performance, instead we recognize the best liars to get their budgets and projects approved) and VOILA we have a corrupt horrific rating system.

Straight to the point, @3xzl+1jCueEQy.

At least you are getting RSUs. In the corporate functions (non-petrotech) you don't get RSUs unless you are SGL 18 or above or you get a differential rating 1 or 2.

I've been with the company 8 years and have received a total of 400 shares only on the 3 occasions I have rec'd 1s or 2s.

Bummer for 65% of the people in business type roles.

Did you notice, They aren’t even asking about the performance management system in the perspectives survey this time. They (the 1’s and 2’s) aren’t gonna change it because it benefits them. A person who received top 1 ratings for the past 3 years has 7 times as much RSU value compared to someone who received 3’s. From the 1’s perspective it’s working and the masses just need to be silenced.

What we have is NOT a rating system... its a RANKING system. Even HR has described it as such.

It’s not the system or process. Change it all you want but until managers and supervisors do their jobs, invest the time and stand up for what is ethically and professionally fair, you will get biased results. While subjectivity and bias have always existed, the last two decades of pushing for diversity and equity have exaggerated and justified the bias. Funny how that works.

Yep.
Been that way for a long, long time.
You must be new.
