In recent years, former IBM employees have accused the company of age discrimination in a variety of legal filings and press accounts, arguing that IBM sought to replace thousands of older workers with younger ones to keep pace with corporate rivals.

heard from a mate who high up in ibm land, he works hard and no one could replace him. so he is over 50 and a decent band (close to CTO level) he was put on a pip. even the higher ups in IBM told him there was no way he was going, which proves they use a algorithm to check age band etc and pip people.
Interesting ageism case:

Non-disclosure clauses meant to silence wrongdoings / acts in breach of applicable laws are void. Whoever signed such documents may freely speak up.
Wow, IBM still hasn't learned this lesson?
Good legal counsel has helped many former employees settle with IBM, often for substantial damages. Once you settle, you are forbidden to even speak of IBM. But worth the trouble if you believe you believe you are a victim of age discrimination.
True dat .... thousands of victims and mountains of evidence, but very difficult to prove in court. And, when a plaintiff is able to prove a claim, IBM quietly settles out of court 😒
