Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

IDM and IFS will destroy Intel and result in more layoffs

Let’s be honest 10nm and 7nm blew up the product and design team best laid out schedules and plans and took them from leadership to last. Sapphire Rapids is proof again of this broken model and IDM execution marriage.

Like a new CEO who says five nodes on four years will change the rot in TD or Fab manufacturing. Those two organizations are way behind TSMC, Samsung, Hynix, GF, UMC.

All the talk won’t build the IP ecosystem nor scale and cost needed to bring the volume of customers to Intel3 it Intel18A.

Competition isn’t like the past. It ain’t your dads AMD anymore. Nvidia isn’t like the days when Intel competed against zylog.

Apple, AMD, Nvidia, Qualcomm, heard of these companies? They aid Intels lunch the past few years and are why Foundry-Fabless is the model. Intel missed that board a decade ago!

The only strategy that works is pawn off the Fans to DoD and focus Intel on design and embrace making it at Foundry. TD and manufacturing have no chance against Samsung or TSMC.

False hope is the future with bigger disappointments and layoffs.

Unless Biden and Xi talks results in a blockade. But with China opening you know that ain’t happening so Intel’s goose is cooked!

@pka+1jFrp31G The problem was Sohail and the poisonous culture that permeates from GL thru Program Manager and Fellows. You’d think their was both capable technical as well as leadership but they were notable in lack of leadership all mindless minions and like that can be changed overnight, LOL

The house cleaning and culture rebuild is just rounding first base. Yet Intel doesn’t have time to get to home before irrelevance.

Of course if CCP blockades or invades Taiwan and North Korea nukes the sour will Intel be relevant again m. That relevance will take us back to the 70’s and take a decade to get back. Hope it doesn’t happen and the Apples, AMD, Nvidia, Qualcomms, and others can continue to use the real foundries to continue to innovate and improve our lives.

Leave everything aside. Can someone please explain how GF is wayyyy better than Intel? GF's latest node is 14nm. The guy who is posting such sh--s doesn't have basic semiconductor knowledge.

And who is to blame? Who was in charge on TMG, then CEO, as the 10nm train wreck sank the Titanic?

5 tech nodes in 4 years.. It is almost 2 years since IDM 2.0 announcement. According to plan Intel should have delivered 2 tech nodes at least . All I see is 7nm continually being pushed out

They haven’t even been able to deliver 1 tech node in 2 years what would they deliver 5 tech nodes in 4 years

Yes in the name of IDM2.0 lots of empires were built , tons of unneeded hiring.
