Thread regarding Gainwell Technologies layoffs

We'll probably see more cuts in the coming months

The tech sector is falling apart and we are part of it. Funny thing is, many of us are hoping to be cut. I've heard that severance is decent, so why not accept it and start over somewhere else? GT is certainly not what it once was, so I'd have no qualms about leaving.

I've been here less than a year and I'm struggling to stay. There is no training, or standards, or documentation.

Plus they allow a team lead, who can't communicate in email or over the phone without serious grammar and spelling issues, to be in direct contact with the client. She's an embarrassment! She contradicts herself within the same sentence, then yells at you for not understanding. How is this person in a leadership role, and why has management continued to let her have direct contact with the client when she can't form a complete sentence!? Questions for the client get run by her first, and she rewrites them in incomplete sentences with words missing and words spelled incorrectly!

If she were a foreigner there would be some sort of forgiveness, but (and i quote) "dat bein sed"...she's American!

I was just notified I am being laid off from GT after 2 years. How many total are being let go?

Quiet Quitting: The original framing came out of the “work from home” era of the pandemic where people began to also work evenings and weekends because their work computers were readily available. Add to that the layoffs and employee shortages. Employees were often told to step up and accept additional responsibilities (without any changes to their job description or compensation.)

Quiet quitting was a way to fight back in regard to this job responsibility escalation: only doing the tasks in their job description within reasonable hours.

Agree with your thoughts that GT is not what it was a year ago. Do we know what the severance package is? I would have zero qualms is leaving too.
