The last four chapters have been a pretty sad story. Intel loses ability to execute; fire old CEO and bring in new CEO with 'bold' plan to not only catch up, but compete head to head vs. TSMC; Pat waves at the crowd on TV at Biden state of they union address and nabs big tax breaks from congress; then do an 'oh sh-t, earnings are down', so fire workers... and congress passes new law saying Intel has to pay 15% min corporate tax.

What a mess.

@ bwb+1jETVryV -- Employees can play cricket in empty fabs. Pat and Randhir (rand) will be there to cheer up.

How can Intel justify spending billions for fabs with no customers. Those billions could instead be used to keep employees employed ?

How would the government forcing Intel to retain employees in order to get CHIPS act money be good news. The company needs to cut costs. Face it, Intel has too many employees. At a minimum they need to get to the levels of their competitors.
