Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

Auto refinance dept got cut

Yesterday 11/9 they called us into a zoom meeting and let us know we were cut. Most of our team was decimated. Recently the apps were slowing down,so perhaps looking back the writing was on the wall. From my experience capOne was full of suck ups who would use their influence to move up and many people were unqualified for their positions. Good luck to everyone. Update your resumes. Start sending out those applications. Many companies have done layoffs this year and in that sense the game has been reset

I heard it was about 20-25 percent of Auto. What departments have the openings in CAC? And where are you located?

Does anyone have a list of employees laid-off? I work in HR at Credit Acceptance and we have openings.

By commenters count, approximately how many folks were laid off in the auto division?

Treated very well… smh. Do you know how treated very well would feel to keep my job. They hired a lot of overseas and now we are fired. We were holding positions until the new overseas class finished their training.

To the person that said the people impacted were treated very well. How do you know this? Do you see behind the scenes like what is happening at home psychologically because of the layoff? Yeah, it sounds like you're in an upper position trying to do damage control. This company doesn't give two hoots about it's employees and no job is safe with capital one.

They didn’t keep just new hires.. lots of new hires were cut. I work there still, not impacted. A friend of mine was a new hire (I referred them) and they were cut, even though they were top of the performance ranker. They kept a mix of people that had to do with performance, skill set and tenure. Everyone has 2 months paid time off to look for jobs internally and then 16 weeks of severance at the new hire level. I believe you get more with tenure. People that were impacted are being treated very well.

In our department it was just the opposite. The last hired were let go. Maybe because the payout would be lower?

Right there with you. They threw away all the people away that would cost too much to keep (tenured agents, big retirements, had hit multiple raises) People that were qualified x3 were dropped but they kept the new hires it’s insane
