Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

No layoffs in Manufacturing...

...for now. Voluntary Q1 unpaid time off, might get extended. Who would volunteer for that!?

TSMC just announced that they are already expanding in Arizona adding additional FAB capacity. There are not enough qualified manufacturing engineers / technicians at Ocotillo as it is, loosing anymore will make any type of recovery next to impossible. This is definitely an “in your face” move by TSMC and changes the game significantly.

It is not possible to cut Technicians who are closest to the wafers and expect to increase efficiency. Those that will survive will bail to the competition.

They’re delusional if they think demand is going to pick back up at any point in 2023. I think they’re doing it to save bucks on natural attrition so they don’t have to pay as many ppl out

It is ironic fab manufacturing is cutting as they are so uncompetitive and inefficient compared to the foundry. If anything they need to cut and get efficient

You trust that they said that? You know if they told MET's they're going to reduce HC they risk losing people, which they can't afford to lose until they ramp down, and also they risk any purposely caused human errors. No ELT is going to be truthful at Intel to the employees, especially to those closest to the wafers.
