Congress can't make us work, but we must be prepared for retaliation from the feds and the carriers along the same lines that they punished the air traffic controllers back in the 80's. There are some very key differences here in that neither the railroads nor the Feds currently have anywhere near the capacity to replace a nationwide workforce of railroaders on short notice as they were able to do with the air traffic controllers to some extent. They might ban every employee who participates in wildcat striking from ever doing railroad work or working for the Federal government ever again, but it will completely depend on how unified the workforce is.

Congress can't make us work, only recommend. If they order us back, then we MUST stay out...EVERYBODY! We stay out until they properly negotiate, and they update and modernize the Railway Labor Act. The Carriers say labor cost is ki----g them, they need to squeeze margins, and they want 1 man crews to survive...well then by God we tell Congress we've conceded and are giving the Carriers exactly what THEY requested! ALL RAILROAD UNIONS MUST STAY OUT, NO EXCEPTIONS!

Yet congress can refuse to show up for a budget and cost government employees pay checks.

Agree, most likely Congress will mandate the PEB Agreement.
Obviously some people don't understand the purpose of a strike, 1day or 4 days. Striking is our best and only way at this point to force concessions from the Carriers, timing is important and needs to be all Unions without an Agreement.

The only thing that will happen is Congress will impose the contract as is on the men and women of the RRs. Whether it is controlled by either party it doesn’t matter for when the current Biden appointed labor secretary said that he recommended Congress do just that. Whether we like it or not, agree with it or not that’s what is going to happen. So much for pro/anti labor.

You all are as gutless as the union leadership everyone on here complains about if you do not go through with this. So what if it ends in one day, or two, or whatever. What the he-l do we have to lose at this point?

Postponement doesn't help the Carriers, makes their future unsure. A strike does nothing to get a better agreement if Congress stops it in 1day. Waiting until all of the Unions that reject the contract can strike may allow Congress to let the strike to go several days and force a better agreement.

Sad! We exhausted all the steps. Self help is the Only thing left. And yet we keep postponing it to help the carrier. Pathetic.
