It's no consolation to those who are affected, but in any case I think it's better to be cut now than to wait in uncertainty for another wave. It's not a good time to lose a job, but I believe that many will get a new and better offer faster than they thought. I would honestly like to be laid off already, because the atmosphere is terrible, motivation is ground zero.

I agree with you. I am one of the laid off people. I have been expecting this, so I was mentally prepared and waited for the severance. I honestly feel like a big stone was taken off my back. My existing coworkers are flummoxed and planning to leave on their own terms. I wish my colleagues well, they were awesome; but the useless NRM fab director level and above - not so much.
