The atmosphere in the company is such that the majority of my colleagues intend to leave very soon even if they are not RIFed. Perhaps the leadership should ask themselves why this is so, despite the fact that the situation on the job market is currently far from ideal. Morale has never been worse, or at least I don't remember it being so bad.
How many people do you know who are actually trying to get on the layoff list?

Why leave? Just stay-put and enjoy, put up a good show, talk more do less, get others to do the job and get the credit for it...
If you want to leave, leave ! Don’t Talk !

I have been here many years, hard to believe I am saying that as it seems like not that long ago I was a newbie.... And I don't want to leave.
I recognize that we are an immature business, we haven't kept pace with companies our size when it comes to efficiencies and business practices.
I recognize that our company seems more concerned with share holders than making a good product for a reasonable profit.
But by and large we are good people working hard to make this company great despite those challenges.
Layoffs have happened nearly every year that I have been here, and likely some day they will hit me personally. But I am not going to mope around all woe is me, I am going to make sure that I am a good employee now, and that if impacted by a lay off, I will appear to be a good employee to a future company.
We are an "at will" company like most. At any time our employer can decide that we have to go. It would be nice to believe that the company would do more to value employees but the reality is big business makes decisions based on the best interests of the business. If you didn't believe that going into business, then you were not looking at your career pragmatically.
Some teams and groups still work well and do great things. That’s the sad part of it. The market demands cheap storage only and nothing fancy like DA.
After the final RIF is completed in 2024, if I’m still here and you see me sobbing in my cubicle… ki-l me. Please.
I don't want to leave. I got a great team, work on some great projects, and I have trust that I'll get my work done at home or in the office. Only a few complaints from me, but aside from always being open to offers I'm not actively looking.
