Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Immigration

How is intel providing immigration for roles like project manager / product owner, SW development, etc. I thought it had to be a skill lacking in the United States? Why has this not been reported to Immigration and Customs?

Broadcom has a general policy - no H1Bs. We still actually hire H1Bs because some of the hiring managers are visa holders and prefer to hire from their home country and/or region. My org hires none and we have no problem finding qualified candidates that are US citizens or green card holders.

@4njc+1j3yLc2e that is because you are a mo--n who doesn't understand that AMD is a fabless company running on cheap taiwanese labour where all their chips are bring msce. All American companies exploit labour whether it is in other countries or locally.

If you are really smart and productive and resourceful, white or not, no way intc will turn you down. There is plenty of smart and local American talent where I work.

The typical American right narrative is that foreigners are stealing jobs from the locals. They don't realize how toxic this attitude is and that they are effectively being held hostage to the same kind of victim mentality/unfairness that they so often blame the liberals of being crybabies in this country for. Lmao, all these companies are making bank, sir while you complain in a forum about unfairness. You don't realize that this is the biggest sign of a loser.

AMD is #79 on the list which has been successful with less H1B workers. They don't exploit H1B as a talent pool to hold them back in the semiconductor race.

The top ten on that list are no corporate darlings. Their anti-American hiring has led to costly punishment in the US courts. Pick any of the companies in the top 10 and search them for H1B fraud cases or settlements. Most have ongoing cases or have already been punished in court. These are not the companies that Intel should be trying to follow when their hiring strategies have been found in court to be discriminatory and racist against Americans.

The image of racism at Intel should be thought of by the case of Ryu v. Intel. Indian managers said they preferred to hire male Indians rather than qualified and experienced Americans. This is the face and state of racism at Intel.

It's more complex than that. You also need to take into consideration the field of specialization; you may be able to find tons of project managers or developers for your sh---y average website or phone app, but try finding someone with experience in niche areas like microcode.

Intel is rank 9 on the list of all companies sponsoring h1b visas in terms of number of filings. Wonder if all the other companies on this list are also struggling. Remember that 80 percent of all issued h1b visas go to India. So out of the 13,000 odd h1b visas issued to Amazon, at least 10,000 of them are indians. Are they also struggling ? I know that only racist trolls inhabit these forums, but at least have your facts straight.

If Intel has trouble finding qualified US engineers, then how come they develop and recruit US engineers with Bachelor degrees to Non-Exempt technician jobs. Once a US citizen gets placed to a Non-Exempt position there are additional measures to restrict US Non-Exempt workers (non-visa supported) to transfer to Exempt engineer jobs (visa supported). These type of restrictions or added scrutiny don't exist to suppress other National Origins from pursuing jobs that Intel sets aside for it's "global talent pool".

@mzw+1j3yLc2e - That’s is hilarious you really think the United States has a shortage of IT Project Managers or SW Developers?

These skills do not warrant immigration and the lack of opportunity for a US citizen.

Intel is an immigration company, not a tech company.

You think those skills aren't lacking? Have you seen the makeup of students in our engineering schools? I doubt you could remove everyone on a visa and not realize a significant shortage of talent.
