Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

There is a life outside Fido, but...

Of course there is life outside Fido, but is it really true that the grass is so much greener there than it is here? I have friends in some competing companies who also tell me about the toxic atmosphere, treating employees as numbers and overworking them to the point of exhaustion. Those who leave very quickly realize that everything is a matter of priorities, and that, in essence, employees are not valued much more anywhere than they are here. This is, among other things, the reason why many decide to stay here even though they have many complaints. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

People work hard all the time and don’t make enough or get promoted

Yes that is true that the pay isn’t good until you move up in the ranks some. That is true most places. Work hard get promoted and the shares can be life changing along with a 7% match and 15% profit sharing you get rich slowly.

The pay at Fidelity is not good. Unless you are a higher salary grade with 40%+ bonus.

For the most part Fidelity is a great company to work for. The emphasis is on the word work. It’s not college you are expected to work.
