Thread regarding Ford layoffs

“Quiet Quitting”?

Morale seems as if it’s at an all-time low since the latest rounds of cuts. Many people do not feel safe with the number of rumors spreading around. Some are upset about their long-time friends being impacted by layoffs. With everything going on, is anyone else not giving this place 100% of their time and energy?

I remember when the Company formed the "30 under 30" which was supposed to generate new ideas. I really wanted to volunteer for that committee but I couldn't because I was over 30. I thought I had some really good ideas since I deal with many areas of the Company (e.g. how do you know what new projects can be formed if you don't know what areas of the Company exists?). When I saw their final projects I had to laugh because they looked like high school science projects. That's when I stopped volunteering for anything.

It's over. This company is terrible at communication and transparency. Nobody knew about the August cuts until the morning of. Everyone is traumatized and angry as we're all expecting more cuts before the end of the year or before Q1 ends. We won't know about the next round until the day of as well. Executives need to be held accountable.

Ford is done. Once you mentally resolve this the stress will go away. Do the minimum possible to stay employed while you look for another job or do work on the side. I Quite Quit, my LLs have no clue.

Most of those older folks that were terminated volunteered behind the scenes so that they would get the severance pay.

Great people who were loyal, hard working folks that produced results were terminated not based on performance but on their age and eligibility for pensions. Doug Field sends a bulk mail on the principles of hiring talent when people were terminated that defined all the traits highlighted in his note.
The no as-----s rule was ridiculous - look at everyone brought in from HP - they're the poster child for ' as-----s. ' We used to engineer and design great products, cant say that any longer and you wonder why no one cares - ' quiet quitting ' what a bunch of bs - no one cares because everyone knows its all about nepotism. People I admired were all terminated - all over 50 - loyalty and longevity do not exist at ford - thats the real story from this round of layoffs - kick out those that worked hard to build the company when times were rough and bring in outsiders that know nothing about automotive products and you wonder why morale is low. Pulse survey scores are meaningless. Everyone blames someone else. Farley is not a leader, neither is Field. I dont know what the answer is but I know things must change cause its just not working. I'm really sand and obviously angry over the terminations. I know many many people are as well. Something needs to happen soon, waiting for Farley or maybe he would rather drive his fancy race car than do his job.
