Plan dependent. Many plans have a lump sum option based on market rates.
Every year they reset payout values based on expected interest rates. As rates go up your lump sum payout goes DOWN and it goes down fast. Details matter.

That is probably optimistic for the next five years.

True, but a very tricky decision since spouses can be involved and all HON pension plans (and there are many) don't have inflation protection whereas Social Security does. Some pessimistic projections have inflation in the 4% range continuing for several more years.
