Are you being quietly fired (encouraged to quit)? Here are the signs you are not wanted:
It may be TL likes low stress but more likely TL likes a promotion and the way to get it is to build an empire. I have seen it time after time. TL gets in new role and works like he-l to expand it by adding as much scope and people as possible, being promoted every year along the way. TL finally moves away and new guy is left scratching his head with huge unnecessary team which has to be carefully dismantled, gaining him no credit. I have been the dismantler several times eliminating many wasteful jobs. Many teams in Chevron, even today, are 2-3 times the size they should be.
What about quiet starving?
Scenario - team lead likes low stress life. Convinces those above him that a larger than needed team, is needed. Despite WFH a few days a week, still not even close to enough work for all. All are told clearly - if anyone asks - we need more people not less. Not exactly inspiring to say the least.
Thanks to MW, QF is now the norm for Chevron employees if you're not the trendy diversity choice.
This is the "day in the life" of many decent, regular workers at Chevron and not necessarily a reflection on their performance, which many managers don't understand anyway.

The ROMs were an ideal way to test quiet firing. If you didn’t get the job you wanted, take the clue and bail out with severance. Don’t stay if you aren’t urgently wanted. Go someplace that adores you.
I know quite a few people who ignored the quiet firing signals and didn’t take the 2020 package. They got mad and quit later with no severance. Oopsie.
Chevron has been practicing QF ever since MW took over. QF the undesired demographics (age, race, gender), false-promote the trendy employees. Isn't it working great ?
There is definitely a lot of truth to this idea of quiet firing. I would say your first move is to work as hard as you can to switch to a better supervisor. Chevron is full of terrible supervisors and appalling management, but you do run across the occasional good one.

I am being quiet hired
I won’t be quietly fired nor would I quietly quit my job. I will be loud enough to be heard by everyone on the same floor as well as the floors above and below me. I will be NOTICEABLY fired if they want me out.
40% of chevron are quiet quitters and 40% being quietly fired. Remaining 20% are hipots focused on visibilty and messaging rather than working.
QF may sound like they're 'after you', but really all the attention goes to the high pots and diversity placements. Everyone else is just around to pay the dividend.
Those aro not signs that they want to fire you, those are signs that you are not good at your job.
In my org anyone who is not a Hi Pot or been on a development program is being quiet fired. Pretty soon won’t be any of Normals left

I personally quiet fired several high maintenance under-performers over the years. It was easy if they had a big ego because they would quit in a huge huff if they felt under-loved.
Lol they quit fired me after 2 years and I am still here 15 years later.
I’ve been getting quiet fired for 10 years at CVX. I don’t care, I’m getting paid and I’ve never cared about career success. An ambitious (insecure) person would not put up with as much stupidity as I have.
As long as they pay me, I'm never quitting!
