Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Pushing out the over 50s

seems they want to get rid of long time workers over 50 one by one so doesn't look like layoffs. rumor is that's happening at several locations. my colleague told by boss he was over the hill & that new workers being hired to replace him & that his job now was to train new workers to do his work & then hasta la vista. he no gonna train himself outta a job so he quit to take job at another company with pay raise. too bad for the blue to lose so much know how.

Expect those senior managers who change jobs every few years - don't seem to do much expect Yam all day. Newbies doing all the work and senior manager take the credit yet did nothing but let people go.

data analysis by ProPublica and the Urban Institute shows more than half of older U.S. workers are pushed out of longtime jobs before they choose to retire, suffering financial damage that is often irreversible.
