I work at a competitor and we just found out we are about to go through massive layoffs for the second time in 3 years and I feel the company us completely sinking. I'm thinking of jumping ship. I actually like working in insurance. Would you recommend state farm or dislike it qnd why? I'd be interested in customer service or underwriting. Also, if there is another dept at state farm you recommend let me know. Thanks in advance

There are already layoffs in the marketing department.
Like the old joke asks…
Q “How many people work here?”
A “About half of ‘em.”
You likely wont be "laid off" here if you live at a physical hub location/
Youll never be treated as an adult, be trusted despite years of experience being trustworthy, and youll watch your peers at other companies pass you in pay. Youll see egregious examples of promotion based on anything other than merit. Youll interact with some of the worst managers and leadership this country has to offer.
But you wont be laid off.
Dont expect it to be an improvement basically. Youll have a great first couple months through onboarding/training/working as a new hire. Enjoy it.
Go work for an independent insurance agency in your area. One with lots of carriers for more depth. Carve out your own position and be happy going to work every day without worrying about layoffs.
State Farm’s response to false discrimination attacks is to blatantly discriminate against white men and anyone who dared not get to a hub in time because they were raising kids etc. Yeah stay away.
No
Seriously, you are asking for advice on a site designed for those already laid off or contemplating being laid off? If this is your best thought on potential employer research stay where you are at.
