Thread regarding Ford layoffs

They should have offered VOBs

I know several people who are disappointed they were not impacted by layoffs. Offering voluntary buyouts would have been a great way to fulfill their wish and save jobs for some of the people who are gone but wanted to stay. I don't understand why it wasn't an option.

Why does this question of voluntary separations keep coming up? We did offer voluntary separations in 2021.

Many of those people had opportunities to take advantage of prior voluntary offers in 2021 and 2020. But many of those folks decided to reject those offers to hold out for more money. Now they are the nerve to be upset because they still have a job while others are devestated over losing a job ?? Well tough cookies for them....
Ford is suppose to be a business not a damn lottery and if they don't like it they can always quit

Ford probably studied that idea and determined based on the percentage of people who normally take the buyouts that it would not be enough people. They probably decided to not fool around this time and just make cuts. It also appears that they cut a lot of highly paid people. Sure, they cut some younger people, but there sure were a lot of dedicated hard working middle aged engineers that were cut. Ford had their motive with this layoff, and it was to cut high costs.
