Hau mentioned in his all hands meeting this morning (Aug. 25) that 8000 layoffs by media is pure speculation. This round of layoffs is done for 95-98% of people. The remaining are only people absent or on vacation. They will be notified once they come back.

More like Project Dilbert
@1pcx+1io481CP Was it code named Project Monarch because like Ford, Monarchs are close to extinction?
This periodic depression has been in place since 2008 when I saw co-workers dragged from their cubes embarrassingly in front of hundreds on the team. Its just a different flavor and variation every few years. Do all company's do this? I don't know but its hard to think of your own family doing that. You are in the Ford family, until you are not.
Project Monarch (just float this name by an LL5 or above and see the reaction) has just completed the first phase. 8000 is the estimated number of heads to cut to get the margins to competitive levels. The company will now re-baseline, monitor the numbers coming out of Jira/Rally and cut more in 9 - 12 months. This will continue to happen moving forward. Ford is transitioning to a startup culture - internally competitive and cutthroat. There will be constant 'churn' at all levels as the people who can't keep up leave, or are let go, on a regular basis. Ford self-identified as a software company a few years ago and in doing so recognized the need to operate similarly to other software companies like Meta, Google, Apple, Microsoft, Netflix, etc...
Its pretty clear
We just have to believe the opposite is true whenever there is an announcement from these m o r onz.
Well according to Lawler in my townhall there is no such thing as an “all clear” and layoffs will be constantly be coming as they keep reassessing costs because we are not competitive. They will be looking for ways to be more efficient.
Four different town halls and four different people using almost identical wording when addressing the 8,000 question. Bloomberg from three days ago said a Ford spokesman, "didn’t rule out additional job cuts."
Had is not only the smartest man in the room (just ask him) he’s also a colossal d#k and paid to be part of the a#$&es that are literally lying to you every day. Oh, plus he don’t work her after October so who gives 2-$&4$ what he says!!!
Who cares what Hau says?
Hundreds were laid off in July, are they part of this?
You still believe these m o - rons
Can we all agree to get some kegs and find a parking lot? I am personally drained, saddened for my talented coworkers that are kicked back to the job hunt, and trying to figure out my next moves in the meantime while still at Ford. But my heart and brain are just mush for the rest of the week.
If it happens to you, it doesn't matter if the number is 800 or 8,000.
8000 could be correct...but in phases. A long-term plan may have been shared with Bloomberg.
The leak needed to be addressed directly and honestly the day it happened. The real problem is that it wasn't. Whatever they say now is too late. End of story.
Next round is coming! THIS IF FORD!
It really does not matter 8000 or 3000. What matters is the number for the next round and when?
It is a comms failure though that Ford didn't push back against Bloomberg's number more forcefully. That 8000 made it everywhere and contributed in large part to employees feeling paranoid about this layoff.
I have been saying this for weeks. "UP TO" 8000. From a third party new source.
Details people. Details.
