We all know what Quiet Quitting is. But I believe that WF has been doing "Quiet Firing" for a long time. Not outright terminating people, but intentionally making the work situation less pleasant, perhaps to encourage people to quit on their own.
We all start working here the same way. We apply for a job, then we are interviewed, and eventually we are selected as the best candidate from among others who were not hired. We have been identified as the best fit for the job!
But as time passes, things sadly can change. You get "Quiet Fired".
You have been Quiet Fired when:
You no longer find yourself working within your area of expertise following a re-org. Sometimes a senior level employee will find themselves re-branded as a "junior" level employee after being re-orged into an area in which they have no expertise and that they originally didn't seek.
Or when you get a new manager who is more difficult to work with than your previous one, which then gets reflected in your "performance" evaluations, even though you are just as good - or better - at your job than before.
Or when your work-life balance becomes so skewed towards "work" that something has to give if you want to keep your family and your sanity. Or when your work hours are changed for the worse or extended.
Or when you are asked to "return" to an office after having been hired as a telecommuter, while remaining on a lower pay scale than your in-office colleagues (because of "your cost savings of not having to commute" that the company no longer touts).
Or when you are no longer "in the loop" when information is passed, and instead must rely on the rumor mill (or sites like this) for substantive employment-related information.
Have you been "Quiet Fired"....?
