Time off During November and December?

Been working at Sam’s for 6 months now, are we not allowed to take time off during the months of November and December? I am a college student living out of state and my manager denied my request off during November for thanksgiving and said that no one gets time off during those months because of the holidays. I’ve had other associates tell me that they have gotten their time off approved so I was just curious if this is true or not.

Only the favorites get approved time off during the holidays in our club. So unfair.

Depends on if your the managers favorite or not. That’s why I save my ppto till the end of the year. If they deny my vacation I can just call off for a week.

Just talk to your manager and I’m sure you can work something out

It’s retail. November and December are critical months so time off requests are usually denied. However, maybe you can compromise in someway with your requests. I get it, my family is all out of town and sometimes I don’t make it home, maybe ask for Wednesday before off and ask to close on Black Friday and you’ll have Wednesday and Thursday off and give you enough time to make it home for a few days. There are double points for calling off on key event days so keep that in mind. Good luck, hope you make it home.

If you are not one of the managers favorite, you won’t get no days off…
