Thread regarding Ford layoffs

How close are we to the 3,000?

Is there any way to determine how many were laid off so far? It's sad how even now that layoffs have started there's still so little transparency from the management. No, one email in a situation like this that only gives the general info is not enough. True leadership would be communicating with us every day, letting us know what's going on. Not these cowards, though.

After 20+ years, I got booted on Monday. I wasn't surprised, nor even remotely angry. I was strongly considering leaving regardless as I had become fed up with the nonsense. If anybody thinks this will be over this week or the "all clear" is meaningful, you are deluding yourselves. Ford has been getting rid of people since I started. I can't tell how many rounds I survived in my time. This is the Ford way. It isn't going to stop. If you insist on staying at Ford or the auto industry, you best be prepared financially. Pay off your house, eliminate debt and you will be worlds ahead as well as prepared for the inevitable. If you stay, you will eventually be terminated. It's not a case of if but when. Get as much as you can out of Ford while you are there and please do NOT ever, ever, ever, trust Ford management.

The only thing that really bothers me about getting the boot, though I would have preferred to wait until spring and then get booted, was the absolutely ice cold and completely soulless way we were let go. The only thing I wanted to do was say goodbye to my now former colleagues. I had no desire to cause mischief just take 5 minutes to tell my former team. I wasn't even given that long. The whole conversation with the LL5 lasted maybe 5 minutes. Less than 5 minutes later, I was locked out of everything.

So what would these communications say?

“It’s ok, the pain is only going to last for a little longer. You may or may not be part of the cuts, but we wish you all the best. Good luck!”

I wouldn’t want to hear anything from them. Just rip the bandaid off and get it over with.

Cowards? That's harsh. (yet accurate). At least give us a time and day when the carnage is over. Sure would be a relief to be able to wake up, login with password, and not hold one's breath... Additionally, whether I survive this round or not, I am already planning my escape from the Blue Oval prison.
