Thread regarding Ford layoffs

The aftermath showed that F-rd leaders and managers are not so empathetic.

Just a few words, “we lost employees and A & B. They were good resources”, and back to work like nothing happened.

So we’re supposed to pretend like we don’t care? Your team morale is not a matter to you? You are taking these values to your home and teaching them to your kids? We understand that this may be hard to discuss, but that’s what makes us employees value and respect you as a human. All I see is a calculator in a management position.
These are the signs for resourceful people to find a better place to work. I’m definitely not going to feel sad leaving this place.

When I was let go after 25 years, everyone in my department seemed to be somewhere else, all not around. Not even one of them said good-bye, even the one I spent a month training on my job. They all played bffs to me, but when they learned I got cut, they were all such cowards, afraid that the horrible egotistic LL5 mgr would get them next, they avoided me like the plague. What kind of people are the people at Ford? They will sell their mother to suck up. I get needing/wanting to keep your income, but dang, do you ever put yourself in anyone else's shoes; where is any kind of empathy? Where else would you work for 20+ years and just leave with a box in your hand and no one even saying good-bye (and yes they had my personal email) because they are all scared, intimidated suck-ups. I hope you feel the same way I did when you get the ax, and believe me you will. As soon as you pull your head out of that manager's a** you'll be gone too...and I hope you you have trouble living with yourself for being such a sc-m bag. How in the world can you teach your children to be good people.....just unbelievable how people have the capability of turning on you spontaneously---trust no one in this environment...its a prime example of the savage in human nature....for some....Ford has cultivated this behavior through the years, constantly pitting us against each other---it is a perfect way to tear us down, but look, I think its back firing on the company....and can't say I'm sorry---I'll dance on the table when the sh-t bag of a company fails with all its nepotism and cronyism. Good riddance, can't get much worse....has to get better than this...and drive a Ford---that's a joke, not even...not ever...

GSRs work 12 hours a day endlessly. [Who ever says GSRs work 8, is obviously NOT a GSR]. They are milestone driven, meaning they work to meet the milestone, not work to the very limiting 8 hours a day. And even forfeit vacation days. I know. I'm one of them.

As if GSR’s are working 40 hours. At the most they work 20 hours per week.

A voluntary package would have blown the hinges off the place . There are a lot of smart engineers still wanting out that will now have to take the lump sum decrease avoidance package

Ford will be a shell of a company it once was

I told my bosses I wanted out last year and did my last emissions program right up to R00 cert review this spring. I set my date for sept30 and as soon as I saw the 8000 rumor I cancelled my retirement .. I was just plain lucky to get picked and hope that I saved one of my friends jobs who hopes to make it to 30

It was sad not to say goodbye or hand off any of my work . My years of work will be scrubbed form the hard drive ... wasteful of knowledge , material and resources. No wonder the downfall

@1sjg+1imvNMbz It’s called boundaries more than anything. GSRs shouldn’t be working 60 hours to cover for management that thinks it’s possible to deliver the same quantity of work after cutting 25% of the workforce. Do your job for the 40 hours you are paid and log out.

@1xad+1imvNMbz - please don't call it quitting since that's not really the case. It's long been called strategic slacking as well as intelligent work-avoidance and even longer as work slowdown. I knew a guy in construction who called it running laps.

I can say that in our area LL4 and 5 were not involved in the decision making, were not tied in to the timing until the week prior when some were told about the dirty work they had to do. Really cr---y process. It came from the higher levels. The mess is on their hands.

The whole bit about we care about you nonsense, all an act. I guess when you get that high up in the company you have to be that way. Show the nicey nicey face on the outside to all but act cold blooded to achieve Farley's goal. The one thing learned put yourself as #1 priority because these pricks could really care less about you.

Write it on all social media, make people aware of the internal things to the media, lawyers, everybody. Hold the so called executives accountable.

Did anyone see the last pulse scores? They were worse at the upper LL level than they were at the GSR level and that never happened before. Also the email sent today about next week felt like a masochistic joke. You really want the questions asked and answered on people's minds.

I feel for those who are still in the fray. I could feel the culture of Ford slipping away starting with the separations in 2008. Seeing people walked out with boxes in hand wasn't pleasant and certainly demeaning for those getting walked out. I got separated yesterday and it was overwhelming how cold it was. A manager reading clumsily from a canned speech and then told that was it. And within hours I no longer had access to anything. I guess there are not great options since some people will be highly vindictive so you have to sever the ties. But after 26 years it would have been nice to go out feeling a bit of empathy. I dropped my computer and phone off at the FedEx office today and that's it. I guess my point is don't kid yourself on what a large corporation thinks of you. The we are family stuff is a bunch of garbage. Enjoy your work, enjoy your co-workers and most of all keep in mind what is really important. I will always be thankful for what Ford has provide me. I will always be rooting for Ford to succeed. But I will never feel the same about Ford that I did in the early days.

I've actually heard the opposite from a few LL's in private conversations. They are pi---d with how this was handled and were freely criticizing the clown show we have at WHQ.

I really wish we had in person Townhalls still. Would love to see the questions that get asked when they pass the mic around.

Certainly sickening. Several teams literally not sure what to do because PMs/POs let go over projects and no clue who is taking over. Lot of good employees were trashed with little regard for any contributions they made. But are you surprised? Higher ups still sleeping fine. If you ever thought the company cared or would look out for you, I seriously hope this is a wake up call.

The other Jim already set the the process of SRD to continue for 5 years since 2019. 2019 round didn’t come down until GSR so we didn’t feel the pain.

Corporate leaders are going to get ready with a script to pretend that they were “shocked” and will try to butter everyone up for ensuring that they reassign the work to the ones left in the team.

Everyone who sincerely work hard, find a way to tell them (in the same buttery tone they use) that you can’t take more load.

Our program team meetings are cancelled this week. How can we just proceed like nothing happened? Lost key team members so need to understand how the work will now get done. But this week is not the time.

2019's SRD should have been an indication to anyone paying attention to get out. I got out earlier this year before this sh-t show started. Glad I did. Ended up getting paid more and working for a company that is better run.

Exactly what happened with my team today. No discussion about the what happened, no good words about the people we let go.
Everyone on mute expecting the boss to say something like “no more cuts”. Right after the call, every team member just went away for a while.

A large percentage of sociopaths are actually bigshot business types in industry, FWIW.
