Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

"Just leave Seagate for a better company"

Yes, I know that even without anyone giving me advice that I should always be on a lookout for opportunities and leave this place for something better. But is it really that simple? I'm ashamed to admit how long I've been sending applications without success.

Spend your energy making yourself more marketable - Seagate views you as an expendable cog in the machine - once your return is questionable you're out the door.

You absolutely should be looking for better opportunities, but the actual state of the economy isn't great, meaning companies are now being cautious about hiring. If you're not getting much reaction to your resume, maybe hire a pro to improve it. If its still a problem, you might have a skill set or age issue. Good luck.

It's never that simple. The same type of people are the ones that say just power everything with wind and solar.

Just spend your energy making Seagate and yourself better! Grass is not always greener and its bonus season!...queue the denial poster in 3-2-1...blah blah...and anything positive here will get down votes...whatever...your future is in your hands, and while you're still at Stx, might as well earn your check and make us better! Best of luck!
