Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Did I get this right?

Employees who have been here seven years and those who have been here less than a year all got two months' severance? How is that fair? I'm not saying that people who joined recently shouldn't get severance, but those who've been here for six-seven years certainly deserved to get more than them.

"To the young folks out there at Ford now or ready for college recruiting season, this has to be the warning of a lifetime."

Lol young people don't treat jobs like lifetime gigs, young people are already well aware companies don't care about us and we could be cut any minute. It is pretty obvious the generation that has complained about young people not having any loyalty and switching jobs too much are the ones that need the warning. You guys really walked around for 20+ years thinking Bill Ford goes to sleep thinking about you SMH

Life is not fair. So many things at Ford were not fair. A lot of id--ts promoted that never should have been. Some were promoted because they were offspring's of directors or managers. Ford has never been known to be fair.

Not everyone got that. I know people that had 1 year (with several years prior as agency) they only got 1 month.

This is why Ford wants to try to tell you that your can divulge the details is your package. Whatever.

It's so they can tell their college buddies or those thinking of joining the company that Ford treated them well and gave them a free 2 mos salary to leave. I can't imagine a scenario in which they don't have a job by the end of the week or next at the latest, as if there bags weren't already packed.

To the young folks out there at Ford now or ready for college recruiting season, this has to be the warning of a lifetime. And what about all of this encourages you to stay or join in the first place?
