Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Future Thinking: LAYOFFS ARE A MUST. See the positive

Colleagues.
This article is GOOD. This paragraph says it all:
" Avaya’s financial problems are not insignificant. Unless the company can successfully resolve those, product and culture become moot points. But if Avaya can remedy them, I believe Masarek has the skills to put Avaya on a more positive path "

There is so much dread with the prospect of losing ones income stream and security. Everyone is justified to be upset and worried. However, let's all try to consider all possibilities and let's think about the future.

WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE:
Example 1: Majority of us loose our job (70-100%). Avaya files bankruptcy. Avaya's legacy is one of corruption and failure.
Example 2: Significant amount of workforce is reduced (>60%). New CEO and investors focus on right sizing the company. Fixing the product portfolio. Avaya is acquired by a large tech company. Your Avaya tenure now has value. That spot on your resume means something.

What groups do you think will be impacted the most by the layoffs? In all the reports the new CEO keeps saying it will happen to rightsize the company so we know it unfortunately will happen

People. You really don't get it.
Management is already screwed. Cleaning up the books to try to make something of the name Avaya is the only positive that can come from this. This is your legacy. Management. Well, they will be labeled for the rest of their lives for being the ones to steer this ship.

Sc--w the positive,,any company that does this to its employees shouldn't be allowed to function. I say burn the mfkr down, let all management be in the same boat as some of us are in.

Well stated. It is difficult to remove the emotion and personal toll aligned with these realities. Yet this situation is unlike any of the previous cuts. No cuts=Avaya shuts their doors. It is that simple. This is most real and is not optional. I do like the idea of my resume not looking so sad when one sees my time at Avaya. I'd really like to be able to state Avaya (since acquired by________) on my resume in the future!
(PS -- Who would vote negative on this post? Just so out of touch)
