It may sound ugly, but I would be happy to receive an offer from direct competitors. Recently, I had a little discussion with my colleagues about how much Allstate lags behind its rivals, so I'm interested in your opinion as well?

Even before all the layoffs, Allstate procedures were cumbersome. Now try getting someone to look at an obvious TL. I jumped ship to Progressive a few months ago. I have been and continue to be pleasantly surprised when claims run smoothly. No place is perfect but I find that when I transfer a coverage, it gets assigned and worked! And when I need to talk to someone, their phone number has not been mysteriously removed. Even IT is responsible and stateside. I used to think, when at Allstate, IF I AM CONFUSED imagine how the customer feels. I don’t feel dread when answering my phone anymore! I know current employees who “accidentally” disconnect inquiry calls, because who wants to deal with angry customers for whom there is no solution? Yes, Allstate lags in service, processes and morale.
es, Allstate is way behind rivals. Look at loss of market share over the last 10 or so years. It would be even worse if they didn't have mountains of cash on hand to artificially inflate growth numbers by buying companies that they will eventually run into the ground. There is no organic growth. The company is filled with Director level and higher people that have no idea what they are doing. There are vice presidents in certain areas of the company that do not understand basic coverage concepts. These people are paid tons of money to do nothing except drum up power point presentations and create inefficient processes so they can create reports nobody looks at except them..... but hey, it makes them feel like they are doing something. I could not be happier to have left this company. I come here from time to time when I hear things like Shapiro leaving because I feel bad for my friends that are still there and are impacted by this inept leadership. It is disgusting that Wilson makes so much money considering the massive amount of market share Allstate has lost on his watch. If only we could all fail miserably and become millionaires 100 times over. What a joke. I strongly urge those left to take a leap of faith and get out of there. There are companies that pay better, have better benefits and have leadership that actually leads. The bloated beast of Allstate that is dragged down by highly paid do nothings will be around awhile. It is too big to die a fast death, but don't die slowly with it. It is not worth it.
Our processes, workload, salaries, equipment and training is some of the worst in the industry.
Turnover in property is around 70%. Managers are no longer able to perform ride alongs to help teach/support their teams. Again, not common place in the industry.
The ideas that everything can be done virtually is the main indicator of a disconnect between senior leaders and our front line. So much money being lost in an attempt to save pennies.
They need to give sabbaticals after increments of 5 years of service.

Leave if you don’t like it here. There’s a whole big world out there where employees don’t whine at everything that doesn’t go their way
As a former Allstate employee, I will state that there are MANY areas Allstate falls over itself. #1 is putting out processes and procedures that are not well thought out. The end user is not consulted it seems. The work arounds are an embarrassment. Saving money by farming jobs out to India doesn't seem to be sustainable either especially if they have to interact with customers. Laying off thousands only to leave the rest to sink wasnt well thought out especially having to hire Temps to back fill positions.
The thing Allstate does right is finally getting on par with other companies who offer bonuses for claims employees, pensions (of course the old plan is far superior to the new pension plan) and Allstate offers superior PTO coming in the door(if its still 26)
