Two of my Agency coworkers 10 years in crash and safety were laid off just an hour ago.They were promised direct hire positions. I will have to move on. This company is not worth of employee loyalty.

OP the point is so your leaders who laid you off and HR have the long weekend to recuperate. They are more important than everyone else, in their minds anyway
They should have laid off DM. I am a former Crash Safety person. I was not laid off, I left in 2004. It was horrible how they treated me.
