Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Involuntary vs Voluntary

It is sad and counterproductive to team morale and productivity to have done this layoff as an involuntary process.

The company says that a core tenet is to Care for Others. Yet they choose to go the involuntary route.

Yes, voluntary separations take a little longer. And maybe the incentive would need to be sweetened to hit the targets. But wouldn’t it be worth it to keep team morale? Is this not valued in Ford+?

Cutting people who already notified Ford of their retirement and doing so weeks away from the 30 year milestones proves Ford is trying to deny people their full pension. If they were only trying to cut salary positions allowing the people to retire in the coming months would accomplish that goal. I’m not a lawyer but this sounds pretty shady.

a number of people with their retirement papers filed for later this year were terminated today. For some it was a blessing, unexpected 9 months severance.. For others it reduces their pension as their 30 year mark was in a month or two.
Either way it leaves a sour taste. In these long time employees mouths.
